Farmer's Market at The Grove, A Taste of LA
The Original Farmer's Market is a Los Angeles staple and a must visit morning, noon, or night!
Created in 1934, the farmer's market started as only a dozen LA farmers who parked their trucks and set up shop to sell produce to locals residents. It has since become an attraction to visitors from around the world and is home to over 100 different merchants all with their own delicious and unique offerings. Sitting on the corner of 3rd Street and Fairfax, the farmer's market is located directly in the heart of LA's best shopping, site-seeing, and eating. At the market you'll find a truly impressive selection food and you'll be able to indulge in everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to delicious sea food, pizza, gourmet donuts, ice cream, and much much more! In addition to the savory food options, The Grove is home to some of LA's biggest and best retail stores so you will have no trouble staying busy during your visit! Stores like Nike, Zara, Apple, and more are all only a short walk from The Farmer's Market which makes this a must stop when visiting Los Angeles.
Delicious Tip: When to Go and What to expect! The beauty of the farmers market is that there is no cost of entry and there are plenty of places to park! Each meal at the market can be had for well under $15 and parking becomes completely free with validation. We've broken down what to expect at the market based on the time of your visit, but as you can tell, there's really no wrong time to go!
Morning: Morning's at the market are amazing! The fruit and vegetables are at their freshest, its quiet and uncrowded so you have plenty of walking space to browse and taste test, and the LA sun hasn't been out long enough yet to make you sweat! Whether it's the fresh produce that's calling you or the gourmet donuts and coffee, if you're hoping for a laid-back experience to ease your way into the day, I'd say mornings at the market are right for you.
Noon: Mid-day at the market is exciting and tasty chaos! By this point the grove and famer's market are both generally packed with people, the southern California sun is out in full effect, and every merchant is bustling with business. The best parts about lunch at the market are the delicious food choices, (pizza, burgers, fries, milkshakes, fish, and more) and the amazing people-watching. If you enjoy crowds and being apart of the action, mid-day at the market is your time to shine.
Night: Now that it's cooled down outside and the big crowds have left, nights at the market become very special. Great for date nights or family time, the market's lighting and ambiance feels warm and inviting and the food options are still to die for. Though some merchants have closed up shop by now, there is no shortage of dessert choices from ice cream, to gourmet cookies and pastries. With shopping and a movie theatre only a short walk away, if you're looking for a romantic night out or just a nice place to end the day, nights at the market are exactly what you need.
