Best Places to Stay - San Diego

San Diego, with much of its' city sitting right on the shores of the beautiful Pacific Ocean, doesn't lack water view places to stay.  Rich with eclectic districts, interesting neighborhoods and surrounding towns, your choices of where to stay, becomes a quest for the location, budget and or activity of choice to help make your decision.

Downtown/ Gaslamp Quarter: Stroll through this fun, restaurant and store filled area.  From Broadway down 5th through Market is where the greatest concentration of activity resides. Just to the north on 9th Ave. the Hotel Indigo is a definite favorite (with a terrific roof top bar with to boot!). By the water, the Hard Rock Hotel is great too and both are just a very short walk either the convention center or to Petco Park, home of Major League baseball's Padres.

Coronado: Because of Coronado is situated as a sort of peninsula away from the city of San Diego, it boasts both ocean views and city views. This historic resort tourist-destination town offers collectively two dozen resorts, hotels, motels, inns and B & Bs, The granddaddy of the whole region is the 130 year-old Hotel del Coronado enough said, it's the champion's champion. For food try the Coronado Brewing Company. Fun, delicious and plenty on tap.

Mission Beach and Bay: Just north of downtown is the home to the laid-back beach neighborhood, Belmont Park and Sea World are around the corner and access to Mission Bay and Mission Beach. Look into the Crystal Pier Hotel and Cottages right on the water, one of many great San Diego choices.

La Jolla/ Torrey Pines: There is a full spectrum of options to where to stay in and around La Jolla. From budget inns to lodges, resorts and beyond, on the water, by golf, near retail, restaurants, it's all available in and around La Jolla. 

The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, the Grand Colonial and the Lodge at Torrey Pines are really terrific places to start your search.

San Diego is fun in the sun and into the night, whether you're there for business, as a personal retreat or family vacation spot.  Great gourmet dining, super accommodations and an endless list of possible activities.
